Democratically Controlled Congress Since 2006?

The Republicans are going to lose the political tennis match over the stimulus. Here’s why.

  1. The vast majority of the country wants some sort of government intervention in the economy.
  2. The vast majority of the country doesn’t believe that we can tax cut our way out of this problem. Tax cuts didn’t prevent the problem. Why would they solve it?
  3. The Republicans don’t seem to be seriously offering anything else. It’s starting to look like a joke.

“Tax cuts didn’t prevent the problem.” But massively increasing government spending will? Pardon me for being skeptical

Okay, so maybe I missed something, but hasn’t Congress been democratically controlled for the last two years? So, wouldn’t it be fair to assume that there might be some skepticism that the Democratic moves the last 2 years haven’t done us much good in preventing the economic crisis?  And, if so, why does Obama/Pelosi and gang thing the country is going to be ecstatic about a huge spending plan when we all are experiencing the burden of debt in a period where people are running out of money.  If it doesn’t work in our own families, it seems that skepticism to it working for the country is fair?  Right?
